Membership and Borrow Privileges
Borrowing privileges will be limited to regular members of the Library, comprising of faculty, students, projects staff, non-teaching staff, governing board members and special members.
Teachers in the University and affiliated Colleges, research scholars of other Institutions, Policy makers, officials in Public and Private Institutions and interested members of the public will be allowed for only reference work. Access is free to research scholars with proper identity cards or letters from their concerned guide/department heads.
Institutional Membership is granted by the Library Committee. Application may be made in the prescribed form available with the Library. The head of the institution may authorize a member of his staff to operate the inter-library loan transaction. Caution deposit of Rs.10,000/- has to be paid by the institutional members. Maximum number of books to be issued out for institutions will be three and the period of loan will be one month with one renewal if those books are not otherwise on demand at the Centre.
Many individuals have been requesting to obtain the ISEC Library membership. Special Membership for individual users has been introduced. Application may be made in the prescribed form available with the Library. The indicative category of users eligible for membership are – Public Servants; Retired Government Bureaucrats; Academicians such as Professors, Research Scholars; Professionals; Journalists and Other Library Staff.
The membership may be given to individuals provided that the following guiding principles have been met. i) Introduction by ISEC faculty/staff. ii) Refundable deposit of Rs. 5,000/- iii) Membership charges will be Rs. 200/- for six months period and members have to pay the fees biannually in order to keep the membership active. iv) Two Library tickets will be issued to each individual member. v) Borrowing privileges will be restricted to books not costing more than Rs. 2,500/- for books. vi) Other rules will be similar to the ISEC library users.
Overdue charges/fine will be collected for overdue books from members at the rate of Rs. 2/- per book for each day returned after the due date.
Information Services
The library provides a variety of services to its users. These include reference queries, referral services, reprographic services and inter-library loan. As a member of DELNET, the library is in position to offer more facilities to its users.
Press Clippings
It is a monthly information service initiated in August 1999. It aims at creating an awareness and providing access to the latest topical press information published in the newspapers in which ISEC users community is interested. The bibliographic citations selected from the newspapers are arranged under broad subject categories. For providing an easy access to these citations, a keyword index, classified index and the title index have been provided.
Inter-Library Loan services (ILS)
The Library offers inter-library loan services to the faculty and research scholars, with the well-established libraries of Indian Institute of Management, Indian Statistical Institute, National Law School of India University, Indian Institute of Plantation Management and Bangalore University. On request document delivery service is also provided to the library users.
Current Awareness Service (CAS)
To facilitate easy and quick access to its collection, a current awareness service is provided by the Library on regular basis on current periodicals and new books added to the library.
New Books Added – July 2015, August 2015The library arranges to provide photocopies of limited number of pages of books, journals and press clippings to users on nominal charges.
Photocopy Service (Xeroxing)
A photocopy service is available at the Library. Library staff will photocopy pages from materials located in the library’s collection for a fee of Rs.1.00 per page copied.
Library Working Hours
The library functions Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. During training programmes Library working hours will be extended up to 6.30 p.m.
