The reports provide information pertaining to agricultural research, education, and related aspects and these have been covered in ten sections- natural resources; agricultural inputs; animal husbandry, dairying and fishing; horticulture; production and Productivity; agricultural engineering and produce management; exports and imports; India’s position in world economy; investment in agricultural research and education and human resources.

 
INDUSTRY RELATED DATABASE –

The Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) is the principal source of industrial statistics in India and data can be used to assess and evaluate the changes in the growth, composition, and structure of organised manufacturing sector. It provides comprehensive information relating to input, output, value added, employment, assets etc of the registered factories. ASI unit level data can also be accessed from ICSSR Data Service Depository and MOSPI National Data Archive.

The survey reports provide a consolidated picture of the performance of Central Public Sector Enterprises in terms of the operational and financial parameters both at the macro level (Vol.I) and sectoral/groups levels (Vol. II)

The MSME website provides Unit level Data (Census) as well as data in published reports covering both Registered and Unregistered Sectors.  The other data and Statistics on MSME and annual reports can also be accessed from the website.

 PUBLIC FINANCE

The report provides a comprehensive database on budgetary transactions of the Central and State Governments, Annual Plan outlays and pattern of their financing, trends in domestic saving and investment, trends in net domestic product of States

These reports provide data and analysis of fiscal positions of States in India: Data and reports both available.

These reports provide comprehensive database on State finances some of which are not covered under “State Finances: A study of Budgets. The Handbooks covers State-wise data from 1990-91 to 2009-10 on some major fiscal indicators.

All budget documents of Union Government of India from 1947-48 to the latest years are available. These include budget at glance, revenue and expenditure details, key to budget documents, budget highlights and annual financial statement. HEALTH

The National Family Health Survey (NFHS) is a large-scale, multi-round survey conducted in a representative sample of households throughout India. Five rounds of the survey have been conducted since the first survey in 1992-93. The survey provides state and national information for India on fertility, infant and child mortality, the practice of family planning, maternal and child health, reproductive health, nutrition, anaemia, utilization and quality of health and family planning services.

The DLHS is designed to provide information on family planning, maternal and child health, reproductive health of ever married women and adolescent girls, utilization of maternal and child healthcare services at the district level for India. In addition, it also provides information on new-born care, post-natal care within 48 hours, role of ASHA in enhancing the reproductive and child health care and coverage of Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY).  The data and reports on four surveys/rounds (DLHS-1; DLHS-2; DLHS-3; DLHS-4) are available under publications section.

The website provides important database on health aspects of India. It brings out reports on national health profiles; health insurance statistics; health manpower statistics; health maps of India; health services in India; ISMH statistics; international comparative health statistics; key health indicators; causes of death statistics; disability; population and poverty statistics; public health statistics; primary health care services; socio-economic indicators; vital statistics; medical care statistics; medical education etc..  National Health Profiles : 2021; 2020; 2019; 2018; 2017; 2016; 2015; 2013; 2012; 2011 and other publications can be freely accessed here.

The Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) Program has collected, analyzed, and disseminated accurate and representative data on population, health, HIV, and nutrition through more than 400 surveys in over 90 countries.

The website provides overview on data sources of Census (1871 to 2011), Civil Registration, Sample Registration System (1970 onwards), National Family and Health Surveys (1993, 1998, 2005); Reproductive and Child Health Projects; SRS Surveys; Multiple Indicator Survey; LSMS Survey of Uttar Pradesh, Medical Causes of Death, and others.

EDUCATION

ASER has been conducting surveys every year since 2005, tracking children’s ability to read, write and do basic arithmetic in the schools of rural districts of India. It is the largest household survey of children conducted in India regarding learning levels of children.

ENERGY
 
TRADE AND GLOBAL SOCIO-ECONOMIC DATABASE

UN Statistical Division provides a global database on population, national accounts, education, labour markets, prices and production indices, energy, crime, gender, nutrition and health, science and technology, finance, environment, communication, tourism and transport. Apart from these databases on disability, migration, Energy, SDG indicators and international trade are made available by the division.

UN Comtrade is a repository of official international trade statistics on goods and services on monthly and annual basis and relevant analytical tables. It gives free access to detailed global trade database and publications.

World Bank provide a comprehensive data on various socio-economic indicators. World Development Indicators (WDI) is the primary World Bank collection of development indicators compiled from officially recognized international sources. It presents the most current and accurate global development data available, and includes national, regional, and global estimates.  It also has around 2,500 internationally comparable education indicators for access, progression, completion, literacy, teachers, population, and expenditures. Gender Statistics cover demographics, education, health, labor force, and political participation and health, nutrition and population statistics gathered from a variety of international sources.

FAO provides time series agricultural data (since 1961 to latest years) on production, food security and nutrition, demand and supply of foods, trade, prices, land, inputs, population and employment, investment, forestry, climate change, SDG Indicators, world census of agriculture and some macro-economic indicators for all countries. It gives free access to database.

The Database covers Statistics on Trades and Development including technology & innovations, trade and biodiversity, transport cost, output and income, inflation and exchange rates, commodity prices, population, creative economy and productive capacities. It also publishes reports – World Investment Reports, World Tariff Profiles, Trends in Global Investment and Trades.

It provides useful information on  human development indicators (Tables in excel sheets) for all the countries. The data presented on HDI Dashboards are updated annually and cover quality of human development, life-course gender gaps, women’s empowerment, environmental sustainability, socioeconomic sustainability, human development in the Anthropocene, and others. Global and country specific reports on HDI and Global Multi-dimensional Poverty index (MPI) are also available here.

DATA PORTALS

This platform provides provide a wide range of primary/unit level datasets of Annual Survey of Industries (ASI); NSSO Unit level Data (NSS survey data on Household Consumer Expenditure; Employment & Unemployment; Debt & Investment Surveys; Land and Livestock Holding Surveys; Enterprises Survey; Housing, Health; Education, Village Facilities; Situation Assessment Surveys of Farmer Households); and Economic Census All datasets documentation and resources are freely available through login to the platform.

This platform provides single point access to a wide range of primary datasets including datasets generated by large-scale government surveys i.e. ASI and NSS that provides unit level data as well as qualitative studies. It extracts and transforms the data from raw datasets before uploading it in the data repository with necessary documentation for the benefit of researcher. Besides hosting unit-level datasets, the ICSSR Data Service also provides access to secondary datasets derived from the unit-level datasets using selected parameters. All datasets documentation and resources are freely available through login to the platform.

The Open Government Data Portal is designed, developed to facilitate the access to Government owned shareable data through search catalog/resources and information and periodically is being updated.

Census India platform by Government of India provided a vast information on demographic, household, economic, social characteristics of Indian population at all India, State, District, Town, village level. Census Tables search engine can be used to extract an information in Excel files. The tables are listed by Census year (1991, 2001, 2011), organized by series (Demography / Primary Census Abstract (A), Economic Activities (B), Marital Status, Age, Disability, Education Language & Religion (C), Migration (D), Fertility (F).  The Population Finder can be used to retrieve data from the Primary Census Abstract (PCA) data tables containing 85 indicators available for districts, sub-districts, towns, villages and wards. The indicators include the number of households, the population by sex, by selected age group, by SC and ST, by work status, and more.  The Census Digital Library serves as a central, searchable repository of all publicly available materials related to the India population censuses. The Sample Registration System (SRS), which provides reliable annual estimates of Infant mortality rate, birth rate, death rate and other indicators at the national and sub-national levels is also available on the platform.

NCRB provides database on crimes, accidental deaths, missing women and children and statistics on prisons and suicides including farmers.

This platform has a fine collection of socio-economic statistical information covering a vast array of data on administrative units, agriculture, banks, financial institutions, civil supplies and consumer affairs, companies, cooperatives, crime and law, environment and forests, industries, infrastructure, demographics, economy, education, trade, health, housing, industries, insurance, labour and workforce, rainfall, temperature, natural resources, telecommunication, tourism and transport.

  • CMIE DATABASE (Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy – Need Subscription)

CMIE platform has a vast business (PROVESS- Company Level Data) and economic database covering the financial performance of individual companies; estimate household incomes, pattern of spending and savings; new investment projects and integrated database of the Indian economy. Some of its widely acknowledged data include PROWESS (Company Level data – financial performance of 50,000 companies since 1989); CapEx is a database of projects; Economic Databases – Economy Outlook; Industry Outlook; States of India; Industry Outlook; Commodities; Trade; Household Wellbeing; consumer Pyramids.

EPWRF has collected data on key indicators and constructed time series data on selected Macro-Economic Indicators; Financial Markets; State Domestic Products Series (1960-61 to Recent Years)
