Applications are invited for the following posts:

1. Professors (5) - One post each in :

  1. Centre for Political Institutions, Governance and Development (CPIGD)
  2. Centre for Economic Studies and Policy (CESP)
  3. Centre for Ecological Economics and Natural Resources (CEENR)
  4. Centre for Human Resource Development (CHRD)
  5. Centre for Study of Social Change and Development (CSSCD)

Qualifications:

Essential:

  1. Master’s Degree with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate.
  2. Ph.D. or published work of equivalent standard in the field of:
  1. Political Science/Public Administration/International Relations (for CPIGD);
  2. Economics (Macro-economics, Fiscal and Monetary Theory and Policy) (for CESP);
  3. Ecological/Environmental Economics (for CEENR);
  4. Economic/Sociology/of Education, Education Planning and Management (for CHRD);
  5. Sociology/Social Anthropology (for CSSCD).
  1. 10 years research and/or teaching experience in the subject/field.
  2. Publications in reputed journals in the subject/field.

Desirable:

  1. Capability of undertaking independent research.
  2. Able to supervise and guide the doctoral research leading to Ph.D.

2. Associate Professors (3)
          (One each reserved for SC, ST and BC candidates) for Centre for Economic
           Studies and Policy (CESP)

Qualifications:

Essential:

  1. Master’s Degree with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate.
  2. Ph.D. or published work of equivalent standard in the fields

(i) Economics, and (ii) Economic History.

  1. 5 years teaching and/or research experience in the subject/field.
  2. Publications in reputed journals in the subject/field.

Desirable:

  1. Capability of undertaking independent research.
  2. Able to supervise and guide the doctoral research leading to Ph.D.

3. Assistant Professors (2) One each for

  1. Centre for Human Resource Development (CHRD) (reserved for ST candidate)
  2. Centre for Study of Social Change and Development (CSSCD) (reserved for BC candidate)

Qualifications:

Essential:

  1. Master’s Degree with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate.
  2. Ph.D. or published work of equivalent standard in the field of
  1. Education/ Health Economics/ Gender Studies/ Demography/ Rural Development/ Regional Economics/Regional Science, for CHRD.
  2. Sociology/Social Anthropology; for CSSCD.
  1. 3 years teaching and/or research experience in the subject/field.
  2. Publications in reputed journals in the subject/field.

Desirable:

  1. Capability of undertaking independent research.
  2. Able to supervise and guide the doctoral research leading to Ph.D.

 

Age Limit

Normally below 50 years for Professor, below 40 years for Associate Professors and below 35 years for Assistant Professors, relaxable by 5 years for candidates belonging to SC and ST. There is no age limit in case of employees of the Institute. Candidates not fulfilling the age criterion may also apply subject to their applications being open to be considered only in the event of no suitable candidate from among those who fulfil the age criterion being available.

Duration

The appointment will be on contract basis for a period of 3 to 5 years, including one year period of probation. Depending on the evaluation at the end of the contract period, the appointment shall either be made to permanent or the contract extended or stands terminated.

Scale of Pay

Professor: 16400-450-20900-500-22400

    Associate Professor: Rs.12000-420-18300

    Assistant Professor: Rs.8000-275-13500

Exceptionally qualified candidates suitable for the posts will be offered higher pay (appointed on contract basis) will be fixed at any stage not exceeding the maximum of the post.

Selection Procedure

Selection will be made on the basis of interview of short-listed candidates. However, mere satisfying the eligibility norms does not entitle a candidate to be called for the interview. Depending upon the number of applications received in relation to number of vacancies, the Institute reserves the right to call only a limited number of candidates after preliminary screening with reference to their qualifications, suitability and post qualification experience, etc. The Selection Committee may relax qualifications in exceptional cases and also consider suitable candidates from outside the list of applicants.

Completed applications with copies of testimonials should be sent in a cover superscribing the application for the post of ............ and should reach the undersigned on or before March 31, 2006. Applications received after the last date will not be entertained and the Institute takes no responsibility for any delay in receipt or lost in postal transit of any communication or application.
